Locust Valley Library is honored to be supported by a vibrant Friends group.

Movies at the Library

The Friends of the Locust Valley Library co-sponsor movies here every two weeks on Thursday afternoons. Members of the Executive Board provide refreshments at each showing.

Book Sale

The Friends of the Locust Valley Library sponsor an annual Book Sale at the end of April with the proceeds going directly to the Library. In the week preceding the Book Sale the Friends collect gently used books and invite all book donors to “shop while you drop.”

Lois Barry Memorial Scholarship

The Friends of the Locust Valley Library offer college scholarships in the amount of $1,000 in memory of their past president Lois Barry, honoring her years of service to the community and to the Library.

Any high school senior who resides in the Locust Valley School District is eligible to apply. The student may attend either public or private school.

Applicants should have a strong record of service and/or participation at the Locust Valley Library. Finalists will be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee.

The completed application form should be submitted by the deadline of March 15th, to the Friends of the Locust Valley Library Scholarship Committee, 170 Buckram Road, Locust Valley, NY 11560.

Free Reading Material at the LIRR Station

The “Train Ladies” from the Friends of the Locust Valley Library keep the library shelves at the train station stocked with books and magazines to read on your commute.

Children’s Events, Concerts and Lectures

The Friends of the Locust Valley Library sponsor various children’s events, concerts and lectures throughout the year including the Britton concert, the Art Lecture Series, and the University Lecture.

About the Friends
The Friends of the Locust Valley Library is a not-for-profit organization founded to increase awareness of, focus attention on, and expand use of the Library; to promote educational activities; and to raise funds. Membership is open to anyone who supports its goals.

Become a Member
Members volunteer their time and raise funds to support the library. Membership envelopes are available at the circulation desks on both levels. For the current membership year the dues for each category of membership are as follows:

Individual – $20
Donor – $35
Patron – $50
Sponsor – $100
Benefactor – $250 or more
