The Council of Advisory Teens

 Interested in making a difference at your library by helping with the selection of books, magazines, video games, music, movies, and programs offered for teens? If so, then sign up for Teen Advisory Council! Be the first to see our newest materials and review them! Intro to Meditation
Feb. 24th @ 7pm

Feel like you’re not able to always get it together?  Sometimes you just want to just yell or hide your head, especially when you have to prepare for an exam or put together a difficult homework assignment?  This great 1 ½ hour class on meditation will give you the skills to improve your ability to focus and feel an inner sense of calm.  Be in charge  of your emotions, instead of the other way around. 
Join Irene Karp, RN, MS, Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Hypnotist and have some fun!  Free. Registration is necessary.

 

Etiquette For Teens
Wed. Jan. 20th @ 7pm

Prepare yourself for interviews, school, the workplace, and social situations. This class will
include greetings and introductions, language use, family etiquette, party etiquette, being a guest, being a Host/ess phone etiquette, electronic etiquette, and how to deal with awkward situations. Free. Registration required.

Make a Music Video
Tues.  Feb 16th:  3-5 pm

In this hands on class, we will take pictures, graphics and music and create a music video. Timelines, effects, transitions and more will be addressed. Bring a USB drive with your favorite song and pictures. Free. Registration required.

Make a Winter Scarf
and Make Someone Smile

Wed. Feb 10 @ 7pm
Have fun and make someone happy. Come to the library and make a no-sew warm winter scarf to be donated to a local charity or home.  No experience necessary just a willingness to give of your time.  The scarves will be delivered on or prior to Valentine’s Day.  No fee.  Registration required.

TEEN TUTORS NEEDED:

The library is looking for teen reading tutors who would be willing to volunteer an hour once a week to assist a child with his/her reading skills. Volunteers meet one afternoon a week for six to eight weeks.  Call for further information.

Learn simple strategies for school success; organizational systems, tools, time management, ways to improve reading, note taking, studying, test–taking, memory, and concentration.  These techniques will help you get the results you want.
To be presented by Dr. Howard Boll and Dr. Joan Bossis, learning specialists and Psycho-educational Diagnosticians.

Coming in March...Babysitter Workshop

Tues. March 16th: 6:45 - 8:45 pm.

Learn about babysitting from two registered nurses.  This course will teach participants the important responsibilities of babysitting and what to do in certain circumstances, including emergencies.Each participant will receive a certificate upon completion of the workshop.

Please bring a doll to practice with.
